Double Exposures

Magnolia Galaxy,Botanical Gdns, Dublin.

Flowers remain a pretty intriguing subject for this photographer. The more there is to learn about them, the more there is to know. Effervescent, fleeting, all-giving, the year unfolds in blooms that come and go.

Here Come the Alliums, Botanical Gdns, Dublin.

How to photograph them? Light, composition, colour and texture often lead the way. Though sometimes double exposures may fit the bill also. The ephemeral beauty of flowers is well suited to this impressionistic approach.

Alstroemeria Indian Summer, Lismore Castle Gdns, Co Waterford.

A dab of colour catches the eye here. A bloom swishes there. Hues and tints merge, transform or dematerialise, then return again!

Salvia Amistad, Hunting Brook Gdns, Blessington, Co Wicklow

All of these photos here represent combinations of sharpness & blur merged into one exposure, using the camera’s multiple exposure settings.
